TAT turns its Madrid food festival into a Spain-wide travel sales campaign with Viajes El Corte Inglés
The Tourism Authority of Thailand extends its Madrid event into a nationwide package campaign, with savings of up to 400 euros and a target of about 3,000 sales.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is taking the food festival it staged in Madrid and turning it into a sales campaign that runs across Spain. Announced on 12 October 2026, the campaign is called "Grandes Viajes 2027: Descubre Tailandia" and is built with Viajes El Corte Inglés, one of Spain's leading travel partners.
The first stage was Amazing Thailand Fest 2026, themed The Wholesome Taste of Thai, held on 26 and 27 September at El Corte Inglés Sanchinarro in Madrid. More than 5,000 people came, among them shoppers, prospective travellers and agents from Viajes El Corte Inglés. The campaign runs from 26 September through October and aims to carry that interest into bookings for the end of 2026 and early 2027.
Travellers who buy selected Thailand packages can save up to 400 euros. The offer reaches people through more than 400 screens at Viajes El Corte Inglés sales points, website banners, Google Ads, digital out-of-home media, in-store announcements at El Corte Inglés and Hipercor stores, social media and newsletters. TAT expects at least 20 million consumer exposures and around 3,000 package sales for the winter season. Beyond food, the campaign also promotes leisure cruising and a wider range of Thai experiences.
The market behind it is already solid. From 1 January to 30 September 2026, 137,228 Spanish visitors came to Thailand, staying 14 days on average and generating about 8.5 billion baht in tourism revenue. TAT expects around 200,000 Spanish arrivals by the end of the year. Chiravadee Khunsub, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing for Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, said the next phase moves the Madrid edition from inspiration to booking, in line with the value-over-volume direction that favours longer stays and distinctive experiences.
For a Spanish traveller, two weeks is long enough to leave the beach resort behind. It is the kind of trip where people want to cross an island, find a quiet bay or drive between towns, and getting around becomes part of the holiday. Many will decide on transport only after they land, and often in a language that is not their own.
That is where Balm Rentals fits. It is a marketplace for renting bikes, scooters and cars in Thailand, with the price, deposit and conditions shown before payment, support in the traveller's own language (Spanish included), listings from legal, verified local rental owners, and one app for iOS and Android. It works alongside local rental businesses and the wider effort to make visits smoother, not in place of them.
Longer stays, planned in advance through a trusted agency, tend to ask the same thing of every service on the ground: clear information and no surprises. Campaigns like this one bring travellers to Thailand. Clear terms at the destination help them enjoy the trip once they are there.
